Le Présence“Our God is Light” |
Light is a presence that illuminates and transcends representation. Of all sensory experience, the immediacy and raw intensity of light bonds me to my subject in moments of intense being. This ephemeral coalescence of spirit and matter has been described by the French poet and essayist, Yves Bonnefoy, as “La Presence”. What is a painter, if not one who, even in the most fleeting perception of a tiny patch of blue over a roof at the moment the sky clears, unites his deepest dreams and his most tangible sensations? Each painting here was created directly through an encounter that *“reflects and focuses the presence of light until the light of presence appears.” |
